John Winship guilty of the murder of Grace Smith, by giving her to drink a corrosive Mercury sublimate, in the parish of Bishopwearmouth on 12th March 1785 so that she died on 16th March.  Grace Smith was his maidservant and was given the drink in order to procure an abortion.
